Story
My mum (Heather) lost her battle with cancer on the 26th May 2021 and I not only witnessed first hand the devastating impact the disease has on those who suffer from it and on their families, but also the outstanding care the staff at the Ulster Hospital and various charities provided her during her short battle. Mum would have turned 60 on the the 18th January 2022.
Endurance tests are not my forte at all ... but I feel now is the time I need to step out of my comfort zone, commit to a challenge and why not raise some money for a fantastic charity at the same time! A 26 mile walk isn't my idea of fun, but trekking through the beautiful Causeway Coast (a place that my mum was very fond of) should make the experience slightly more pleasant.
Each year Cancer Focus NI supports 6,000 cancer patients, their families and carers across NI. Covid-19 has made life even more traumatic for cancer patients: treatments have been delayed and cancer screening services paused. As a local charity they are 90% dependent on fundraising. This is why they and I, are truly grateful for your support today.
Thanks
