Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hi everybody. As you know I don't ask for your money for sponsorship as generally never felt the need to like I do now, so that goes to show that this is close to my heart. Most of you know that Babs has been dealing with a Cavernoma since January and is now doing great, she's a tough nut. So I'm trying to raise some money for Cavernoma Alliance uk to help them help others as they've helped us. With giving a little you can help a lot towards creating awareness and knowledge of this disorder.
I'm doing this by attempting the Wendsleydale Triathlon the Big cheese which consists of a 2000m lake swim a 42mile very hilly bike and a tough off-road 20km run. I'm also doing a charity gig with my old band which we haven't gigged or played together for over 15 years, on the 12th July. and i think a chest wax for all 3 of us has been frown in too ha ha.
The money we raise will help educate and inform Doctors and also go towards the research needed to help Babs and others with these Cavernomas. Remember 1 person in 600, in the UK, has a brain cavernoma without symptoms. This equates to roughly 90,000 people - enough to fill Wembley Stadium. A spinal cavernoma is rarer than a brain cavernoma.
People who experience symptoms are much rarer. An ongoing study based on the entire population of Scotland, found that each year, 1 person out of 400,000 is diagnosed with a symptomatic brain cavernoma.
Thanks for all your donations so far every pound counts.
