At the end of April I'll be leaving CAFOD, after seven wonderful years, to return to the 'Laudato Si Centre' at Wardley Hall. Colleagues wanted to buy me a leaving present but I'd prefer any contribution to go to CAFOD's Ukraine Appeal.

At Wardley Hall we've been working with a great group of people from CARITAS Salford's 'Refugee Response' service, who deliver English ( ESOL ) courses to refugees and asylum seekers. Course members have formed a 'Gardening Group' and they've been coming to Wardley Hall to help develop the Walled Garden. Group members come from South Sudan, Yemen, Palestine, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Kurdistan and Syria. Shortly, there will members from the Ukraine.

I'll be splitting the funds raised 50:50 between CAFOD's 'Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal' and our 'Gardening Group' so that we can continue to support and explore opportunities for them

e.g. funding a two day 'Willow Craft' course for them, with a view to establishing a sustainable enterprise with them, making willow-based craft items that can be sold at and through the 'Laudato Si Centre'
