Story
On 5th March, I will be running the Cambridge Half Marathon!
I’m fortunate enough to be running on behalf of an amazing charity called Mind. This charity does some brilliant work to help people in their recovery from a wide range of mental health challenges and promotes positive mental health.
Having been a long-term sufferer of a variety of mental health issues, I have always been very fortunate to have access to private health care, providing me with direct access to support ranging from trained therapists to a psychiatrist who I still use today for my medication.
Many people don't have this privilege and rely on the support of the NHS or charities such as Mind.
I’m taking part in this run to raise awareness of Mind to help remove the stigma around mental health. I know how important regular exercise is for my own mental health and raising money for such an amazing charity is helping me with all of my training.
Please donate what you can to enable Mind to continue to support people with mental health problems.
Some stats provided by mind:
- 1 in 4 of us will experience mental health issues in any given year
- Suicide is the biggest cause of death in men under 49
- And the biggest cause of death in women under 35
- Mental health issues are responsible for 91 million working days lost in the UK
