Cycling across Europe and the US to raise funds to support people who are struggling, but ultimately raise awareness of Mental Health.

Story

I have suffered with depression since I was 16. Over the last 12 month I have had a massive decline in my well-being and had to seek medical help to get me through this year. I just couldn’t cope. I couldn’t see a way out. All I wanted to do was curl up in a ball and cry constantly. I just could function doing the simplest of tasks. I am very luckily to have such an incredible support system but not everyone has that.

This is where We Mind and Kelly Matters is so important. They offer services to help everyone with there mental health who don’t feel like they have anywhere else to turn.

It’s so hard to open up about mental health. It was a while before I could really open up about it but now I understand the importance of being open and talking about your struggles.

We are taking on 2 extremely difficult challenges in Europe and the US.Starting on 10th September (World Suicide Prevention Day) in Northern Spain and cycling through France and Germany for 10 days, we then move on to Newark in the US starting on 24th September and finishing on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco on 10th October (World Mental Health Day)

Unless you are affected or know someone struggling with Mental Health it’s difficult to understand. There is often still a stigma associated with it, leaving many to suffer in silence, our aim is to raise awareness and help to prevent suicide.
