Story
When Charlie was diagnosed with Parkinson's at 48 we went to see Professor Huw Morriss at UCL for a second opinion and whilst he couldn't change the diagnosis, which felt like a death sentence at the time, he did give us hope that a cure would be found within our lifetime. I didn't think I could run to the corner but I'm doing couch to 5k and am participating in a run on the 26th of October so it would be good to raise some funds for Parkinsons research at the same time. The Movement Disorders Centre is the largest multidisciplinary centre for movement disorders combining research and clinical care. The research work and clinical services cover the full spectrum of movement disorders, including Parkinsons, dystonia, atypical parkinsonism and more. The team of world-leading clinical academic experts work to uncover the causes and biological mechanisms underlying movement disorders, to improve patient care and to develop new and improved treatments. Their unique ability to bring together patients, clinicians, data, research programmes and experimental medicine means we are strategically poised to make the next major breakthroughs for Parkinsons disease and other movement disorders.
