Event: St Michaels Mount Swim 2022, on 6 August 2022
We support the fight against men’s cancers to fund nurses, equipment & support.

Story

We are taking part in the St Michaels's Mount swim to raise money and awareness of prostate cancer and other related conditions. We have been training in the pool since February and in the sea since April but are quite daunted by the distance. We  are swimming in memory of Colin Smart - much loved Father, Grandad and wonderful family man.

When you support The Chestnut Appeal you make a real difference to the lives of men and their families.

The Chestnut Appeal for Men’s Health has been proudly serving the community for over 20 years.   Our aim is to make a marked difference to men with prostate, testicular and penile cancers.

Early diagnosis is key.  A big part of our work is raising awareness and education.

We are currently working with the NHS to develop a new Chestnut Unit for the next generation; a centre of excellence for men, to be based at
Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

We are also looking to fund two nurses to train to be specialists in
sexual counselling.  At present there is no provision for this type of
specialist counselling in the entire region so it's vital we get these
sessions up and running as soon as possible.
