Story
Well - here it is - the moment you've all been waiting for - possibly a Once-In-A-Lifetime chance.... to sponsor me for a sporting endeavour!
I will be taking part in the Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge with my good friend Aimee Bissett to raise money for CFC.
We will be walking 100km over a weekend in May - hopefully a sunny one! We will spend one night camping in the middle - which frankly should be enough to sponsor me in itself.....
Not known for my sporting achievements; in fact, more known for my lack of sporting prowess, lockdowns and pandemics have made me more intentionally active than I probably have ever been. And I'd thought it best to put that to some good use. Training around Gunnersbury Park (5kms) has been going well - only one blister so far.
100km is hard to get your head around but I've heard it's a very long way - here are some routes to help you visualise it....
- London - Worthing =100kms
- London - Oxford = 100kms
- London - Canterbury = 100kms
I am raising money for Cyclists Fighting Cancer to support my brother who I am super proud of. He has taken his 'Friday Afternoon Body' (his words), overcome a huge number of challenges and now gives back to others in so many ways - this charity is just one of the ways.
Every day four families in the UK are told that their child has cancer, we feel passionately about supporting these families along this difficult journey. We help children to regain their physical fitness, strength and confidence by giving them new bikes, adapted trikes and specialist support during treatment and into recovery.
CFC is more grateful than ever for individually motivated fundraising activities since there’s been no organised rides/walks/events for a whole year now. We’re desperately trying to get as many bikes to children as we can even though there’s short supply at the moment so we’re having to be creative with our sources.
