London to Paris Cycle Challegne · 5 May 2010

We are radically advancing research to achieve a life free from epilepsy

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

From 5th - 9th May i took on the challegne of cycling from London to Paris. It was an organised event, covering over 371 miles - as much as 95 miles in a day !

I wanted to raise funds for a charity that means something to me, and that is Epilepsy Research UK.

Many of you know that following my pregnancy with Millie (3.5 yrs ago) I have been left with a condition that causes me to have small fits when I am subjected to flashing lights or very bright lights. This means that I no longer can drive, and have to avoid places where there might be flashing lights like nightclubs, theatres, cinemas, Christmas displays etc ! Though I do not have epilepsy, rather something called Non Epileptic Seizures, this charity has provided me with support and information, and through its research, it does touch upon my condition. I would hope one day that they will find a way to help me and others suffering from NES, as at the moment there is no medication we can take or other treatment to reduce or stop the fits.

In 4 months of training i clocked up 1300 miles, and felt as prepared as i could be for the trip. The challegne was hard but enjoyable, i met a nice group of people and we supported each other through out the trip. Plus all the support from back home via telephone calls and text messages was great too.
