During the last two weeks of October 2017 I will be going to South Africa as part of a local born charity Lionsraw. My time in South Africa will be made up of delivering a two week netball camp to children of Inchanga School who are almost all orphans.

Whilst South Africa is known to be a netball nation these children don't have the opportunities to the sport in the same way that we do. I am hoping to raise my target with your help in order to  give these children the opportunity to understand what it is like to participate and compete in netball. 

The sessions will be an introduction to netball for the children of Inchanga School as many will have not played this sport before. I hope to reach my target figure so that we can provide equipment specifically for netball to allow the children to carry on and practice their netball skills. Grangetown Netball Club have kindly offered to provide coaching manuals to contribute towards their development ensure the children can continue to develop their netball skills after my trip. 

It is fair to say these children have never had the opportunity to compete in netball like other local areas in South Africa as they do not have the kit to do so. I am hoping within my fundraising target to be able to provide enough kit to ensure they can attend competitions locally.

I have been a member of Grangetown Netball Club since I was 13 years old. Throughout this time, Grangetown Netball Club have supported me and provided me with many opportunities which has helped me to be in such a fortunate position I am in today. I made this decision to go ahead with this trip to create chances for others who are less fortunate and to initiate change for them and put a smile on their faces. These are some of the poorest children in the world and live amongst one of the highest HIV rates in the world which stands at over 70%. Local unemployment is also extremely high which stands at a rate of 90%. Help me, help them.
