We fund life-changing and life-saving work to support cancer patients at The Christie

Story

Thank you to The Real Beatles for being willing to organise this event in memory of Steph and raise funds in her memory for The Christie Hospital.

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Stephanie Longson was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in January 2020. Her journey with the Christie Hospital started immediately, but  within 8 months she found herself with a chronic bowel obstruction due to the malignancy.  This meant she was unable eat normally for the last 3 months of her life.

The care she received was excellent, especially under the COVID restrictions at the time.  Her needs were difficult to manage, but with the support of The Christie we were able to provide intra-veinous nutrition for her at home for which we are very grateful.

Funds raised will go towards the launch of CAReGO (Complex and Recurrent Gynaecology Medical Oncology) - a service which is dedicated to Malignant Bowel Obstruction.  This will enable the clinical team to support clinical projects that will directly improve patient care and experience. This includes teaching patients and relatives to self-administer nutrition so they can be discharged home sooner.

Stephanie shared some of her story in a blog. Please copy the link to take a look
