Story

Well I’ve decided to do something good, scary, yet super rewarding…I submitted an application in July and heard a few weeks ago that I got selected! I am feeling really super proud to say I going to be running the London Marathon! 😬😳🤣🫣 I am hoping my wonderful friends, families, local business’s, colleagues and kind strangers may help me raise money for an amazing charity, Sense. I have chosen this charity it is very close to my heart.

Two of my best friends who I have known for over 20 years, who I love very dearly, have three amazing boys. One of their sons was born, deaf and blind.  His name is Beau and he is just an inspiration to me and pretty much everybody that he meets. Sense have been particularly supportive to my friends and all of  Beau’s family, in showing them how life can be managed with the right support around him to still reach his potential and goals.

He is now eight years old,  nearly nine, and is able to basically explore every environment he is in and is supported by his amazing mum and dad in every step he takes to reach every goal he wants to achieve. He really is a truly amazing boy and so are his parents and brothers in making sure he gets every opportunity he can. He can run around the garden exploring every smell and texture. How he manages on a day-to-day basis, I am just in awe of him.

Sense have been helping Beau and his family since the beginning of Beau’s life. They are have helped them to learn skills around managing environments, sign language, joining groups of support and understanding how it will be to be Beau. They feel it wouldn’t have been possible to help him to be as independent as he without this amazing charity. So as I said, I have signed up to do The London Marathon to raise funds for this awesome charity!

Yes the marathon…. I know! whereas I would normally run about 5K or around a netball court, that’s enough for me. However I’ve now set this goal and this challenge to raise £2000 for this amazing charity and have to run on 26.2 miles, which is a very scary feeling! I know I am going to need so much determination, but believe it will be so rewarding to get to the finish line in April next year knowing the money I have raised with such support for the charity too!

I hope to do some amazing things to raise my target! I would ask you to keep an eye out on ‘my just giving’ page… I’m going to be having charity evenings and events between now and April, anything you can donate to this amazing cause and help me to stay motivated to keep trying to reach my target! I truly will appreciate it all, as I know Beau, his family and Sense will too!

I’m gonna be starting my running training this week! Obviously the thought of doing it throughout all of Winter as well is not fun!

Knowing I have support from you will really help me to get through this tough goal and kick me to get out of bed on those dark wet mornings! I’m going to be keeping you up-to-date with my training progress and I’m sure they’ll be lots of things I’ll be looking for help along the way….

I will be posting stories and updates on social media, so apologises in advance…. But I need to make sure I do my best for Beau and Sense!

I appreciate anything anybody can give, a pound, a gift for an auction, a contact for a business to gain sponsorship , training advice or fundraising advice… please reach out to me! anything just to help me to reach my target and get through the marathon I will be forever grateful for.

Thanks for everything in advance… right now to go find where the running trainers are….
