Thanks for supporting our fundraising.
As many of you know we lost my beautiful mum to oasopgageal cancer in 2020. She was a health lady, she didn't smoke and only had the odd glass of wine. Watching the disease eat her away was absolutely heartbreaking. She was extremely brave. She underwent chemotherapy which was difficult but thankfully the surgeon said they could operate. We waited a grueling 8 hours in December 2019 to hear that the surgery was successful so Mum was looking forward to rebuilding her life.
Devastatingly, it wasn't to be. Mum never really seemed to get back to full health and in June 2020 we were told the cancer had returned and to a place that made it inoperable. Covid made things difficult as Mum had to attend the meeting alone whilst I was on speaker phone when the news she had between 5 and 10 months to live was delivered. I was just numb, for once in my life I couldn't talk.
Mum never made it to 5 months, we only got 3 and they were 3 months in and out of hospital. Thankfully we managed to get her home where she passed away with my Dad and I by her side. She was only 62 years old. A wonderful wife, mum and nana.
