Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Here is where I tell my story : haha okie - I have been running for quite a few years mainly as a leisure and fitness activity and certainy not for distances longer than 3 or 4 miles at a time but when my Mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease a few years ago, I wanted to do something that would contribute to raising funds and awareness for The Alzheimer's Society. The disease itself can effect everyone, not necessarily older people, my mum was mid 60s when she was diagnosed and there are a huge number of people in the UK suffering for it, some as young as 40 !
My eldest daughter Sophie and I looked for something we could do and decided to enter The Great North Run held in Tyneside. It's a massive event and we were both so lucky to get a place - This is a half Marathon - 13.1 miles and it is thought to be quite a tough one having quite a hilly route - especially at the end from about 10 miles on!!! you can see the route on utube although it does kinda freak me out to look at it!!
We have had some major wobbles but we have decided to go for it even though it may kill us - me probably rather than her !! My trainer is my husband Steve who has worked out a training plan !! but my son Mitch says he is deputy and he has taken to hitting me on the bum with a spatula - a nice little trick he learnt from watching "Run, Fat Boy Run"
Any support you can give us is so welcome and appreciated and dont forget to check us out on the telly on September 15th
Love Steph xxx
