Story
2020 and 2021 really sucked!
In the midst of the Covid pandemic my lovely wife Kendra was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020 followed by a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in 2021.Thankfully her breast cancer was diagnosed and treated early, meaning we are hopeful that it will not come back.
MS on the other hand is almost certainly here to stay. It is sometimes referred to as the invisible illness or the illness with the thousand different faces, as it affects almost every person differently.
With the NHS stretched to its bones we found it difficult to get the right support and information, especially right after the diagnosis.
Searching for help we came across the MS Society which provided incredible support at a stage when we needed it the most.
My wife describes MS as:
Mass Stinging, Mobility Suffering, Morale Slouches, Mind Sluggish, Mood Switches, Misty Sight, Macro Sensitivity, Multiple Symptoms. There are days when she has lots of energy - enough to conquer Mount Everest and there are days when opening her eyes, feels like the trek to base camp. Regardless of this, she says, ‘I have MS, MS doesn’t have me’, has started to learn to roller skate, an unexpected birthday present 😊.
Now it’s time for me to give something back. I want to raise awareness of this disease and raise money for the MS society to continue its research into treatments and potentially a cure.
I have signed up to run my first ever marathon in Berlin on the 25th of September.
I would be very grateful if you support me. Any amount will do.
Many thanks,
Stephan
