Story
Thank You so much for taking the time to visit my page.
I am going to be running 10 miles on the 7th November 2010 to raise money for The Stroke Association. I was meant to be running the Great South Run but caught flu, so have changed the date.
For those of you that know me well you already know why I'm running but for those of you that don't here are my two reasons for doing this:
Firstly I am running IN MEMORY of my Nanny 'Lawnmower'(Why lawnmower? When I was very small to distinguish between my 2 nans they were given names I would remember them by. This nan we borrowed a lawnmower from.) Nanny Lawnmower died in hospital just before the year 2008 ended, a month after suffering her second stroke.
Secondly I am running FOR my Nanny 'Trains'(Why trains? You could see trains from her living room window). Nanny Trains suffered a stroke in October 2009. Although understandably she is not completely her old self, she is well and back at home after the staff in hospital helped her get her mobility back.
I hope that the money I and others raise will help those that continue to suffer. And I hope that eventually, with more research and campaigns, so many less people have to experience any suffering at the hands of a stroke.
Please support me and anyone who has in anyway been affected be Stroke by sponsoring me in the Great South Run 2010. Every penny counts.
Some facts taken from the Stroke Association website.
Did you know that:
An estimated 150,000 people have a stroke in the UK each year.
There are over 67,000 deaths due to stroke each year in the UK.
Stroke is the third most common cause of death in England and Wales, after heart disease and cancer.
£20 keeps the Stroke Helpline open for an hour.
£50 helps the stroke Association to publish information leaflets.
£100 or more can help fund the stroke associations research projects.
So please, please, please sponsor me.
