Story

Hi everyone!

I'm running the Royal Parks Half Marathon to raise money for Human Rights Watch (https://www.hrw.org) and our new Environment programme.

The recent terrible flooding in the US and Southern Asia shows that climate change is all too real. Unfortunately, it's often the world's poorest and most marginalised communities who are hardest hit by the world's changing weather patterns.

Children are especially affected. Our research has shown how poverty - fuelled by climate change - creates child brides in Bangladesh, as parents are forced to marry off their daughters before rising river waters wash away their homes. And our investigations across both Africa and Asia show the human cost of pollution, where toxic chemicals cause terrible health problems for kids who lose their childhoods - and sometimes their lives - when they are sent to work down mines.

Fighting climate change and pollution has never been a more pressing issue. Your sponsorship will help our efforts to end injustice, and protect the human rights of people affected by climate change all over the world.

Please support me as I run for rights!

Thanks so much,

Steph
