Story

💫If you have got this far reading this page THANK YOU! Please take a moment to read on and support this wonderful charity....💫

It has always been my lifelong ambition to run the London Marathon so when Shooting Star Hospices offered me the chance to run for their amazing cause I jumped at the chance.

I am absolutely terrified, but committed to getting around the 26.2 miles, and raising as much as I can for Shooting Star in the process. I started the beginning of 2022 barely able to make it off the sofa to run 1 mile, but with a lot of determination, and support from you all (as well as a bucket-load of chocolate) I am determined to do this! 💪

Please read on to find out more about Shooting Star Hospices, and how you can help by donating:

  • Shooting Star Hospices support children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families across London and Surrey.
  • There are 2 hospices: Christopher's in Guildford, and Shooting Star House in Hampton.
  • It cost £8.8 million a year to maintain the current level of care and just 11% of that comes from government funding, so the charity relies on the generosity of supporters (like you) to keep the service up and running
  • I have seen first hand the amazing care and support these hospices give a child and their wider family
  • Here is a tour of Christopher's Hospice, Guildford: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHYjA5RCXX0HrWr1oJpFxxg?feature=emb_ch_name_ex

Here are some of the ways your donation may help:

  • £75 could pay for a nurse to spend an hour with parents answering questions about the end of their child’s life, giving them peace of mind
  • £25 could pay for a child’s name to be engraved on a star or leaf to hang on the memory tress in the bereavement gardens, giving families somewhere to visit and remember.
