Story
At The Myton Hospices we believe that everyone matters for every single moment of their life; we focus on enhancing life when cure is no longer an option. We are leaders in compassionate end of life care; our work centres on our patients and involving them in decisions about their care. Perhaps most importantly we give them more quality time with their loved ones.Last year we supported more than 1,800 people and their families, in our three hospices, via our patient & family support services, and in the community through Myton at Home.
My friend Deborah was a very keen walker. She regularly walked with Out and About in Warwickshire, with Go Heart of England and with The Ramblers too, even when she was going through treatment for cancer.
Deborah was a really strong and plucky lady, who never moaned when things got tough, and she amazed us all with her positive attitude to life.
With many friends in all these groups, Deborah would be quietly supportive of others who needed a wise word, but was also not afraid to put someone in their place when that was required too! I know from the many comments sent to me that you all held Deborah in high regard.
Unfortunately Deborah's current treatment plan was put on hold with the outbreak of Corona Virus. Chemotherapy was halted as that would lower her immune system, making her entirely vulnerable. Deborah took the difficult decision to self isolate at home, with the support of her son Jamie. Sadly this decision took the fight out of her as she now no longer had goals to focus forward on.
Sadly, Deborah lost her fight against cancer on 7th April 2020. She is now at peace, and our thoughts are with her family.
We will all miss you Deborah.
How can we help?
FROM MONDAY 6/4/20 UNTIL THE END OF OUR ENFORCED LOCKDOWN, I CHALLENGE EVERY ONE OF YOU TO EITHER SPONSOR ME THROUGH MY WALKING, OR TO SET YOURSELF CHALLENGES WHICH CONTRIBUTE TO THIS FUND.
You could run, walk, cycle, walk round the garden or the house or challenge yourself in a completely non sporty way! The choice is yours.
I have set the target high, but with all your support I am sure this can be achieved. Please share this with your friends and family so we can do something positive for Deborah and for other patients at present in a Myton Hospice.
Thank you for your support and please let me know what you plan to do,
Stella Moore.
