Story
Hi Friends! My name is Stella and I am a cancer scientist.
Since my PhD I have worked and researched various parts of the gastrointestinal organ. I’m proud and dedicated to win the fight against cancer with the strength of interdisciplinary research collaboration, as well as brave people and families suffering from this. I decided to start fundraising for GUTS UK to raise awareness of this extraordinary 9 meter long organ and its associated diseases, for example cancer. Cancer is a personal struggle for my family too.
I’m going to run the London Marathon 2023, this will not only be a physical challenge but also a mental one! My son Christos has decided he wants to support me in any way possible, be it training, fundraising or on the day! He is a young sweet boy extremely interested in the human body and more particularly this very long organ that turns food into poo! His favourite gut fact is that the small intestine is lined with millions of tiny bumps, called villi, which soak food nutrients into your blood.
Covid permitting I will be organising little fundraisers, so stay tuned 😊
Please donate what you can so we can reach our goal of £2,000 and help people suffering from diseases of the gut. WE’VE GUT THIS 😉
Thank you so so much!!!
Stella
"We're getting to grips with guts!"25ft is a lot of gut to understand! The truth is, our guts have been underfunded, understaffed and undervalued for decades. People are suffering, people are dying. All because of a lack of knowledge about our guts. With new knowledge, we will end the pain and suffering for the millions affected by digestive diseases. Guts UK’s research leads to earlier diagnoses, kinder treatments and ultimately, a cure.
