OK it's not a Marathon.... but supporting Emergency UK is a worthy cause and 10K is the longest I have ever run... for now!

Emergency volunteers provide care for warzone victims, build hospitals and health centers and, crucially, provide training for local people to empower them in taking care of the their needs. Emergency operates in war torn countries such as , , and .

Emergency's work has been described I think quite aptly as "ramoscello d'ulivo in bocca e peperoncino nel culo" (literally, it translates as “an olive branch in the mouth and chilli peppers in the ass”).
