Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. Cancer affects almost all of us in one way or another whether directly or through a loved one or friend. In 2008 and aged 24 years, I was diagnosed with testicular cancer; it was a very frightening time of my life. Following an operation and treatment I have now had the all clear. I'm also to become a dad for the first time less than 2 months after this event, I feel its time I give something back to Cancer Research for saving my life.
Having driven Clinker for many miles over the years, I am delighted to have joined forces with Rob & Jack to create ‘Clinker’s Challenge’. The Wing family have offered their engine Clinker, a 104 year old steam road locomotive to drive from Cornwall to Blandford Forum for this year’s Great Dorset Steam Fair. Our team comprises of my wife Sam and me, Rob and his son Jack Wing & Charlie Daniel. The run will cover 189 miles, from Cornwall to Blandford Forum in Dorset. We are aiming to do the run in 3 days leaving home on Thursday 27th August. The aim of the challenge is to raise as much money and awareness as possible amongst the people we know and the people we meet along the way for Cancer Research. We will be stopping in as many villages and towns as possible on the journey so, if you see us, come and say hello and show your support.
Rob commented “I was very pleased to team up with Jon & Sam to help them with their fund raising for Cancer Research; none of us knows if or when we might need lifesaving treatments being pioneered by Cancer Research. I thank you for your support and hope you will give generously to such a great charity.”
Help us to reach our target of £10,000 by donating to our JustGiving page.
Thank you.
Jon
