Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. We are going to #SupportSurvivors by making a team stay-at-home ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro, using the stairs in our house! At this extraordinary time, we want to reach out to support survivors of domestic abuse - to offer whatever we can to vulnerable women. n particular, we're doing this to raise funds so the Women's Aid digital services can stay open. Before Covid-19, the Womens Aid Live Chat was already a vital lifeline for women who couldn't find the words or were unsure whether they are experiencing abuse.
But this support is now needed more than ever. Each chat between a survivor and Womens Aid expert support worker costs roughly £5. By donating the price of the bus to work or a morning coffee pre-Covid, you could support one woman indefinitely trapped with abuse.
And for some inexplicable reason... the way that we want to do raise funds to support this vital cause is by making a team ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro inside our house in under 7 days. We'll be climbing 38,680 steps as a team between Friday 10th April and Friday 17th April. That's just over 1,289 times up the stairs, equivalent to the 5,895m of Mount Kili (gulp...). We are a retired GP, a project manager at a children's charity, and an operations manager at a climbing wall... guess we know who's leading the summit pitch. Please support us and our poor carpet and donate some money to support Women's Aid.
Our team is Debra, Sian and Penny. See you on the summit!
