We will do whatever it takes to help you live life as fully as you can

Story

Stagecoach East Midlands have chosen to support Macmillan and the vital care they offer across the region.

To kick off the partnership in June 2019 four Stagecoach buses which serve the Lincoln, Hull, Mansfield and Grimsby areas were transformed with Macmillan branding. Keep your eye out as they're out and about on the road raising awareness of the charity!  We also had a 'Wear it Green Week' and collections in bus stations to start the fundraising.

Unfortunately, at the moment fundraising events are limited due to the pandemic, but if you would still like to make a donation to this worthy cause just click on the DONATE button - Macmillan will be thrilled with your support!  Every penny counts!

So far we have hosted all kinds of events, asking for sponsorship and generally doing as much as we can to help people living with cancer and we'd love you to help us too.

As well as all the things happening with staff locally in our eight depots across East Midlands, we have run regional activities too.

So far this includes:

'Power an Hour' - It costs £28 to power an hour of Macmillan nursing and so for 28 days from 28th August 2019 we tried to fund as many nursing hours as we could.  In total we managed to fund 52 hours.

'Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning' - On 27th September 2019 all depots hosted a coffee morning, some in staff areas and others in bus stations.  Skegness Manager even volunteered to get dunked in a wheelie bin of ice cold water!

'Festive Fun 2019' - During December our staff chose to ditch their blue fleeces for a small donation to wear something festive.  We also held a staff raffle, a fun day in Mansfield Bus Station and a social media competition where entrants selected a charity for which we converted to a cash donation.

'February Half Term 2020' saw our drivers ditch their blue fleece for a Superhero or Villain costume putting a smile on passengers faces! We also ran a Superhero and Villain quiz raising £592.77 in total.

'Festive Fun 2020' - During December our staff donned their festive jumpers and craziest Christmas costumes for a small donation, we also held a staff raffle and a social media competition where entrants selected a charity for which we converted to a cash donation.

'Easter Raffle Egg-stravaganza' and 'Bunny's on the Bus' 2021 - Our staff spread a little Easter hoppiness and wore their Easter costumes on the bus for a small donation, we also held a giant Easter egg staff raffle.

'Euro's Sweepstakes' and 'Wear your footy shirt to work week'. - From 11 June 2021 our staff wore their favourite football shirts to work for a donation and to keep the ball rolling throughout the Euros competition we did staff sweepstakes too.

'Charity Cricket Match' - On Sunday 29th August 2021 our Grimsby team organised a charity cricket match between Stagecoach United and GTCCx1 with fun games, a BBQ and raffle for everyone to enjoy too.

We all like a slice of something nice so yet again we celebrated the Macmillan 'Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning' on 24th September 2021. with cakes on sale at depots.

Lincoln Driver, Adam Wales and his son Joe set out on their Tour de Depots challenge, which would see them travel over 250 miles on a tandem around the area our buses run. After setting out on 23 October 2021, Adam and Joe made it to Skegness but unfortunately, had to postpone their challenge due to serious family illness. They are now even more determined to finish their challenge so look out for any updates, they'll be back in the saddle soon!

We held a raffle at our Stagecoach Long Service Awards evening for a £500 Sykes holiday voucher.

In 2022, we held a 'PJ Day on the Buses' in February half term, we also spread a little hoppiness over Easter by dressing up and had a 'Guess the name of the Bunny' competition at each of our depots.

During July to power our last 92 hours we had pre-loved sale tables, our staff also did their own activities including a 7 hour sponsored spin and finally we finished off with a cake sale for a scrumptious treat and celebration.

It's been great to see how everyone has come together to raise money and awareness for this very worthy cause. There's been lots going on and our staff have been really dedicated in helping us reach our target.
