Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Following Barnsley FC for 30 years, having close relatives impacted by cancer and treated at Weston Park Hospital, during the last couple of years I have joined both together and completed a number of walks between football stadiums which coincided with games.

"Back in 2018 my step-dad, Steven, was diagnosed with a rare form of Cancer caused by the HPV virus in his throat and neck.  His daily treatment of radiotherapy, along with three full days of chemotherapy, started immediately at Weston Park Hospital. It was a long rough journey, particularly the last months where he remained an inpatient.

Whilst we knew about the hospital and the amazing work that the consultants, nurses and staff do we knew very very little of Weston Park Cancer Charity!
Throughout his treatment they provided Steven and the family with advice (what to expect / how to manage), therapie treatments and endless emotional support.  Even now, almost four years post treatment, that support continues".

During 2021, and the first walk of that season between Barnsley and Sheffield United, Andrew Clarke expressed an interest with the club supporting future events.  Over the course of the 2022/2023 season a number of walks (and possibly a cycle) will take place.
