First there was cruising in the Caribbean, then there was picking apples in New Zealand and just when you thought the adventures were done, I've gone and booked a little adventure in the Himalayas!
Yes, that's right I'm off to Everest Base Camp on the 25th March to complete a 10 day trek along the way.
Standing at over 17, 000 ft, Everest Base Camp serves as a preliminary camp for those attempting to reach the lofty summit of Everest, a staggering 29, 000 ft.
Before reaching Base Camp, I will first have to contend with Lukla Airport, recently labelled as the world’s most extreme airport due to its altitude and runway of only 460m. After which begins the trek, with the threat of altitude sickness and walking for up to 8 hours a day, this isn’t going to be an easy challenge.
With the trip ever fast approaching, I am starting to get very excited, if not a little apprehensive after watching a documentary about Lukla airport! I have been preparing for the trip for a while now with lots of long walks and running, as well as playing plenty of netball and hockey.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and to raise funds for such an essential charity is going to make it all the more special. Too many friends and family have been touched by cancer, so it is important that I do as much as I can, whilst I can by supporting Cancer Research UK.”
Help me smash my £1000 target and if I do, I will take and wear my hotdog outfit at Base Camp! So help me get the hotdog to Everest. (This trip is self-funded so all of your money will go to charity and not towards the cost of my trip).
