The Chestnut Tree House Littlehampton 10k is back on Sunday 6 September 2020, with an exciting twist! Runners are joining our first ever virtual 10k in support of local children's hospice care.

Story

I'm joining Chestnut Tree House for their first ever virtual 10k - running #TogetherApart for local childrens hospice care.

At the start of the year I was hardly running 5k and not regularly getting out. Once Covid hit and changes in my life handed me unexpected time to get out running I got out more often and started running for longer. Its been a lifeline. The Littlehampton 10k seemed achievable but it was clear it was unlikely to go ahead. So it being run this way is giving me an opportunity to run an organised event but in my local area and without other runners to worry about!

I so pleased to run for Chestnut Tree House, who cares for local children with life-shortening conditions giving them the chance to do all sorts of things that kids love doing. These children and families live in the moment, for the now. When you are facing the greatest of challenges, its the smallest of moments that really matter, taking time to relax, knowing your child is safe; splashing in the hydrotherapy pool together; talking to one of the nurses who understands exactly how difficult things are.The hospice costs over £3.5 million per year to run. Families are never charged for their care and less than 7p in every pound is funded by central government, so Chestnut Tree House relies heavily on the generosity of their amazing supporters (like you) to help raise the rest and continue providing this vital care.
