Story
So guys I have been super blessed in being able to do it again, about to run (walk, hop, crawl) 26.2 miles!!
I never really ran until just over 3 years ago. I told my mum I was going to run a marathon one day, and she giggled knowing my love for chicken nuggets would probably take over any kind of love for training. I wanted to be able to give back for all the care/love/support/treatment my mum received. That’s where this running journey began...
My mum was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014 and had gone through several types of treatment programmes and even got to try a medical trial to help make her better. Unfortunately the cancer become untreatable and I lost my mum on 25th July 2017. My mums wish was to pass at home and In her final days she was looked after by an incredible hospice who made sure we all had the support we needed. I gained my first marathon place in October of the same year. I always wondered what she would have said about me attempting such a beast of a race. I also would have loved to see her beautiful smiling face when I actually crossed that finish line.
The following year I completed another Marathon again to give back and help raise money so others could have the amazing care my mum had been given.
Two weeks after completing my second marathon on 1st of may 2019 my dad passed away. Even though he was struggling with illness his death came as a huge shock. And to be honest it knocked me sideways.
After everything that had happened...I wanted to be able to help on a bigger scale!! HOSPICE UK help support hospices all over the uk. Every penny I raise will be going towards palliative care in hospices through out the country. Meaning that other mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, Nan’s, grandads...family members that need it will be able to get the support they need in their final days
‘Collectively hospices in the UK provide vital care to more than 200,000 people with terminal or life-limiting illnesses every year, as well as providing support for their loved ones. We work closely with them to support their vital work and to create a stronger voice for hospice care.’
Please help me make a difference. There is no donation to small!!
