On the 22nd May 2017 Chloe Rutherford, 17, and Liam Curry, 19, a young couple totally in love, were murdered side by side in the atrocity of the Manchester bombing, at the Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester Arena.

Chloe was a private singing pupil from being very young, and both hers and Liam's families are now like family of my own. 

Chloe's and Liam's families have set up the Chloe and Liam Together Forever Trust as a way in which their children can be honoured. The Trust gives financial bursaries to budding sports stars and those involved in performing arts, to help ease the financial burden which both of these career paths often bring (auditions, exams, coaching qualifications, travel expenses to name but a few).

By offering financial support to young people to help them succeed in the areas which Chloe and Liam loved most, the Chloe and Liam Together Forever Trust hopes to inspire other youngsters to follow their dreams and achieve their goals. 

Normally, on May 22nd, my home community is able to come together to celebrate the lives of our Chloe and Liam, who were killed in the Manchester Arena attack in 2017. It doesn’t necessarily make the day any easier, but being with friends to remember our special two, is a way of making a very difficult day a little bit warmer.

This year, however, I’m far away in London, and with the social distancing measures in place, the memorial day will be slightly different for everyone.

So it got me thinking of a way to focus the time and hopefully help with a bit of fundraising. 

So, starting tomorrow (Monday 18th May) at 10:31am, and then everyday at the same time Monday-Saturday, I’m going to set off to complete a 5K run. I’ll go out each day until I complete ’22’ 5K runs.

If you can spare any pennies at all, no matter how small, truly, they would be gratefully received.

And then this Friday the 22nd, please celebrate Chloe and Liam, by wearing pink and blue and sharing a picture of yourself across all of your chosen platforms. Let’s fill all our our social media feeds with the Trust’s colours and celebrate Chloe and Liam’s lives. Then please raise a glass to our beautiful pair at 22.31.
