Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 2nd October 2022 I will finally be running the 'actual' London Marathon after two years of completing it virtually due to Covid and I am looking forward to running alongside thousands of others runners rather than running solo! Even though I secured a ballot place, I have chosen to run in support of charity Mind.
Having suffered with my own trauma and mental health I am fully aware of the importance of charities like Mind and the support they offer those suffering mental health issues and also their families and loved ones.
One of the main reasons I chose Mind was in memory of a very dear friend. Last April we got the devastating news that our larger than life friend had succumbed to his mental health battles and lost his life. Someone so caring, fun-loving, full of energy found himself struggling. The stigma surrounding mental health, especially in men, quite often means that people don't ask for help and find it difficult opening up to others. It is tragic that someone can be in such a dark place and truly believe their only way out is to end their life.
Mental health doesn't discriminate. It can affect anyone at anytime. There can be however, be a happy life lived when the correct people are let in to help and support. It's a tough journey but Mind can really make a difference and I would like to help and support them back by raising as much money as I can for them.
Any amount can make a difference so I would be very grateful for any donations made.
Thank you
