Story
Hello and thank you for visiting my just giving charity page.
My story started back in March 2007, I had been suffering with a sore throat for nearly 3 months and was unable to get rid of it.
My doctors had tried every medicine known to man which had all been unsuccesful so sent me for further test's at Barnsley hospital for a bi-opsy. The result was that I had Cancer of the Larynx which had grown to a stage 3 tumour and my life was now in danger.
My treatment was to be at Western Park Hospital in Sheffield, one of three specialist Cancer hospitals in the UK, and in my opinion the best hospital with the most caring and passionate staff anywhere in the world.
Over the next 5 months I had everything and the kitchen sink thrown at treating the cancer from chemo to radio therepy, plus i was also approached to enter a new cancer drug trial which could also improve my chance of life, which i grabbed with both hands.
After all my treatment had finished in September 2007, I was given the good news that it had all been a success, and the tumour had completley dissapeared, although i would still have to have regular check ups for a number of years this was the best news anyone could hear who has had to deal with cancer and how it change's your life.
I can't put into words how much i appreciate everyone who helped me with my treatment at both Western Park Hospital and the Hallamshire Hospital, especially Gill and James who looked after me on the drug trial side of my treatment.
This is my way of trying to give something back, to say thank you for giving me another chance of life and hopefully the money raised will do the same for somebody else.

THE DAY HAS ARRIVED 04/10/2009
Hi Everyone
Wow what a day, yesterday was gale force winds and rain, but today is bright and sunny with very light winds, perfect.
We made our way out to Rothwell country park to the starting point, here i met up with 2 freinds from work who we're also taking part in the wild boar challenge along with a couple of their friends.
We started out at 08:45 and straight into the first uphill part of the course, very hard start just hope that there aren't many of these on the course.
The route took in various parts of the outer Leeds area heading out towards Allerton Bywater then back in towards the city, not really sure of all the locations but we did go through Stourton,Hunslet and Temple Newsome along many of the city's cycleways and canal route's.
Lucky for me most of the ride was flat and we made really good time, crossing the finish line at 12:20 with the time of just 3h35m. Wow again i managed to complete the 50km wild boar ride and most importantly i, with the help of all the donations from you all, will have raised plenty of money for this very worthy charity.
Again i would like to thank you all
Steve Parkinson.
ps if you haven't allready donated you still can do so by clicking on the donate area on the main page.
