Story

PLEASE READ THE WHOLE TEXT BEFORE MAKING A DONATION

In 2008/09, Scotland on Rails ran a bootcamp tutorial in advance of our Ruby conference.  We paid for the venue, the speakers donated their time for free, and all the money paid for attendance went directly to charity.

Together, we've raised more than TEN THOUSAND POUNDS for the Children's Hospice Association, which provides respite care for terminally ill children who will not live to adulthood, and support for their families.

There are two tutorials running in parallel this year.

First, you need to register at the eventwax site ( http://tinyurl.com/src2010tutreg )  you can choose EITHER kind of ticket. There are limited number of each type available so by the time you get there, some ticket types may not be available.  It's important that you register first to ensure your place before making your donation as donations cant be refunded.

Once you have booked your ticket there, return here and make a minimum 75UKP donation for the Childrens Hospice Association.

The two tutorials are as follows:

1. An introductory session for those newer to Ruby and/or Rails. This covers the basics of getting an pplication up and running, as well as going beyond the basics into adding fancier features like Ajax.

2. There’s also an more advanced option for those with a little more experience. This tutorial is geared around refactoring existing Rails applications and assumes a basic familiarity with Ruby and Rails.

Please make your donation before the day arrives so we have an accurate list of who’s going to what.
