Continuing our pledge to work with Action for Children to raise awareness and much needed funds, our next team fundraising event is here!

Tonight (on Tuesday 21st February) we are camping outside the office overnight, no matter what the weather, to show our support for families facing difficult times this winter and you can pop on and say hi here!

Right now, there are 3.9 million UK children in poverty. And with the cost of living crisis spiralling out of control, they're even more vulnerable. Home isn’t the loving place it’s supposed to be. Tonight, children all over the UK will go to sleep hungry. Some of these children don’t even have a warm bed to climb into.

Here's a few ways you can help:

£40 could pay for gas and electricity for a family for a week

£100 could provide a child with a bed

£1000 could fund the entire Parent Talk service for one day 

The Squeegee team initially chose 'Action for Children' as their Charity of the Year for 2022-23 aiming to raise £10,000 throughout the year to help all children in need of love, care and support. We started wanting to make a difference after being deeply saddened by the news stories that hit the UK in December 2021 on Arthur Labinjo-Hughes and Star Hobson.

Our first event was a 24-hour Pool marathon that featured Susie, Rich, Ed, Alex and Matt as well as a number of guest stars, and we streamed it all live from our offices in Herefordshire. Thanks to you and your amazing generosity, we managed to raise over £2500 by the end of the 24 hour stream. You can catch the full 24 hour+ stream here, you never know it might help you to sleep!

Following on from this, throughout March some of the Squeegee Team ate and drank for £31...just £1 a day in order to raise awareness of the current cost of living crisis and to see first-hand how difficult it is to budget so tightly. 

We are aware of how lucky we are to have not had to budget in this way before, and how we were able to choose to do this to raise awareness rather than face the reality of having to do this day in, day out in order to make ends meet with the rising cost of fuel and inflation. 

In August, Matt and Olly battled their way through 15k of mud and obstacles taking on the Tough Mudder challenge.  If you think that sounds easy, take a look at some of the crazy things they went through all in aid of this fantastic cause

In December, Carla, who is only 9, has watched her mummy and daddy and friends at Squeegee raising money for AFC and was interested to help herself. She first started with the idea of creating loom band bracelets to sell to her classmates with all money going to Action for Children. This proved to be very popular so she began making them on mass to sell at her school Fayre after a member of staff suggested she have a table there on 1st December.

She gave up hours and hours of her spare time tirelessly making over 80 bracelets and keyrings in the end as well as spending the school Fayre selling rather than having fun attending the event like her friends and managed to single handedly raise a further £349.50
