Story

ATTENTION:  CAMPAIGN EXTENDED THROUGH FEBRUARY 28TH

MGS is a youth-led non profit initiative built to provide inclusive tennis-based instruction to children with special needs. With the help of our partners at East Suburban Citizen Advocacy (ESCA), Rashid Hassan Elite Tennis Academy and Craneware Cares, we have been able to further our mission of providing widespread inclusive tennis instruction for all!

Due to the evolving circumstances of COVID-19, MGS was forced to move entirely online in March 2020 in an effort to adhere to CDC guidelines. Although initially a setback, COVID-19 eventually served as a catalyst for innovation within MGS’s traditional clinic structure.

Determined to continue to provide safe and effective tennis instruction, the MGS team organized a massive summer bake sale fundraiser in June 2020 and debuted it’s very own virtual learning platform: ‘MGS Academy.’ Through the efficient execution of the summer bake sale fundraiser and ‘MGS Academy’ launch, MGS was able to gather the funds and create the infrastructure necessary to onboard additional virtual participants during the pandemic.

On September 26th, 2020 MGS held its very first "Racket Giftaway" event in which 30 rackets, tennis balls, and MGS t-shirts were gifted away to people with special needs as an introductory gesture into the MGS program: (https://triblive.com/local/westmoreland/tennis-racket-giveaway

We believe the "Racket Giftaway" event was a major success, and as a result are excited to continue to schedule giftaways like these through our newest "Sponsor-A-Student" initiative. For every $50 donated to MGS from February 8th - 28th, one new MGS student will receive a tennis racket, pack of balls, and MGS t-shirt as they are enrolled into the MGS program.
