Story
The Severndroog Castle Building Preservation Trust (SCBPT) has launched this fundraising campaign to raise part of the funds needed in order to restore this unique and much-loved Grade II* listed building.
In March 2010, the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) confirmed an award of £595,000 towards the restoration of Severndroog Castle. This is a major achievement, and a big step towards opening up the Castle once more to the public.
The grant will cover about 70% of the full cost restoring and opening up access to the Castle. There is still plenty of hard work to be done to meet the full target of £840,000 needed to complete all the work. We are confident that grant funding from a number of other organisations and significant support from Greenwich Council will help us to reach our target.
The Trust has approached other grant-giving organisations for funds to match the HLF grant and in addition, we need to generate funds from other sources. We are asking supporters to donate just £5 to sponsor a brick. We know Severndroog Castle is a building that generations of families have enjoyed visiting as well as new visitors who explored the building at our open days in recent years. Please help to save your building and put Severndroog back on the map as a jewel in South-East London's crown.
Your donation will help preserve our heritage and re-open Severndroog Castle for all to enjoy. Please visit our website for more information and pictures of the building: www.severndroogcastle.org.uk
Donating online through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they will never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they will send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
Many thanks for your support,
