Story
My name is Hannah, I am 18 and I have been fundraising for an amazing charity called Destination Florida. I have been growing my hair for a long time now, and in September I had 10 inches cut off, so that it could be donated to another special charity called Zichron Menachem, which uses donated hair to create wigs for young cancer patients.
Donating my hair was a massive challenge for me, but it is something I had wanted to do for over two years, and different experiences this year gave me the push to decide to finally get it done. People have said to me in the past that they would definitely sponsor me to get my hair cut short, and so for this reason I wanted to use the opportunity to raise as much money as I can through sponsors, for a charity that I know will use the money well, called Destination Florida.
Destination Florida is a small, local, Northern based charity which specialises in bringing a bit of sunshine into the lives of children who are suffering from life threatening illnesses. Every two years they take a group of about 75 children to Florida, literally for the holiday of a lifetime. Each trip is meticulously planned and involves taking a large support team consisting of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and other carers. The benefit of these trips can really never be underestimated… I came across the charity because my neighbour is the chairman of it, and it was when he was describing the effects that the holiday has had on previous individuals, that I knew this was a charity I wanted to raise money for. The next trip Destination Florida are doing will be this October. Any sponsors, however big or small, would be gratefully appreciated.
Thank you, and if you know of anybody who you think may be interested in sponsoring me then please feel free to send them the link to this page, or contact me. Pictures of before and after have been posted online!
