Thanks for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page!
Did you know that it's likely that more people have stood on the moon, than wheelchair users have been on the top of Ben Nevis. On the 14th September 2019, we're planning to change that with a bit of sponsorship and support from you!
We are "Spirit of the Event" - a bunch of friends and work colleagues from DHL - who will push / pull Richard Baldwin-Hay, a full time wheelchair user, up and then back down Ben Nevis (the UK's highest mountain standing at 1,344m / 4,409ft above sea level) as part of an organised event for the Back-up Trust.
There's over 20 of us doing the event , including Nicola Crick, Jane Berrisford-Smith, Michale Rinaldi, Chris Hawkridge, Nick Archer, Jim Hartshorne, Dave Hughes, Mark Schofield, Adam Hawke, Tim Bizley, Tony Morris, Derek Westerside, Martin Box, Chris Berry, Mark Hounsome, Trevor Jones, Paul Walker, Will Plaisted, Chris Thornton, Marcus Adams, Damien Jackson, Roger Davis, Bloo Sparrow, Michael Davison, Darrell Bennett, Richard Baldwin-Hay.
Richard Baldwin-Hay became spinal cord injured after a car accident in 1998 and is paralysed from the chest down. He's the person that the team will drag / push / pull up and then back down Ben Nevis on 14th September 2019. Richard has been working with the amazing Back-Up Trust for a number of years - they are fabulous people who aim to transform the lives of newly spinal cord injured people like Richard, nearly 21 years ago, and help them realise that life does not have to stop post injury.
Funds that we raise , along with three other teams doing the climb will be used by Back-Up for a broad range of support, from mentoring newly injured, to multi-activity outdoor courses (just like outward bound), to helping prepare people, and build confidence to go back to work.
