Would Wimbledon be the same without the Spire of St Mary's?

The spire of St Mary's Church has towered 200 feet above Wimbledon for the last 170 years, but not for many more without major restoration which is likely to cost in excess of £100,000.  As well as being a local landmark, the spire is known to millions of TV viewers as part of the backdrop to the Wimbledon Tennis Championships.
