Story
Spin us a Yarn are a group of crafters in Colliers Wood. You may have noticed some of our creations around!
We have decided to use them to help raise money for a charity who helps a local boy called Frankie.
His parents said:
When we first realised that Frankie wasn’t doing all of the things that his twin brother Otis was, we started on a journey that eventually led to the diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy.
During that time, a friend told us about Small Steps - a charity that works with children aged birth to 5 years who have cerebral palsy or other forms of motor impairment, syndromes or sensory impairment.
They offer weekly group conductive education sessions where Frankie can learn ways of approaching and dealing with everyday tasks, through a greater knowledge of his own abilities. We practice sitting, standing and lots of other things whilst playing and singing songs.
Just as importantly, it give parents a chance to connect with others going through similar challenges, as well as advice on tackling all the practical and emotional hurdles.
They have been a lifeline to us and we will keep going until Frankie graduates at age 5.
