Hi,
We're Spencer Clarke Group, a recruitment agency based in Preston and this year, more than half of our team will be taking part in the 2022 Tough Mudder to raise money for MIND Lancashire Mental Health Charity.
Our nineteen-strong team will tackle the world-famous obstacles over the course of a muddy 5 or 10km run. The 5km mudders will face 13 obstacles with the 10km mudders facing a gruelling 20 obstacles.
We hope to raise £2,000 for MIND Lancashire, which provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. Mind also campaigns to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding of mental health problems.
To decide which charity would be selected to receive the sponsorship funds, our employees were asked to nominate charities which were close to their hearts. From the seven worthy charities nominated, everyone in the Spencer Clarke Group team was then asked to vote for which charity mattered most to them.Our Graphic Designer, Luke Meeks, who nominated MIND Lancashire said, “Unfortunately, I've had three male suicides in the family and it was simply because these men didn't have the right services for them to use. Mind offers free counselling and workshops to everyone who is struggling with their mental health.”
Luke continued, “Although it's important for everyone to talk, I believe there has been a real let down in the current services for men and it has had devastating consequences.”
With sad statistics such as one in four experiencing a mental health problem and suicide being the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK, it’s clear that Mind needs as much funding and resources as possible to tackle such a big and important challenge.
