Hi Folks!

UPDATE!!  It's back! The London Marathon 2021 is officially back in London...it's getting close and I'll be heading down to take on the 26.2 mile run!

After years of trying I'm proud to be taking the leap thanks to the amazing charity, SpecialEffect (thank you :-) )

You may not know SpecialEffect, but they are making a huge impact on the lives of disabled women & men, boys & girls throughout the UK. SpecialEffect provides support & access to high-tech equipment that enables and empowers severely disabled people to use technology to enhance & enrich their lives.

The equipment & solutions that SpecialEffect provides are bespoke to each individual's needs. Equipment is adapted, provided & set up to be used by whichever part of the individual's body works best allowing them to communicate via tech with family & friends and provide relaxation and enjoyment through video games. This hugely benefits mental well-being, self-esteem and quality of life.

One area that SpecialEffect specialise in is Eye Control Technology - Imagine: You wake up after an accident. You can’t move anything except your eyes. You can’t speak. Through eye-movement alone, SpecialEffect, through their StarGaze project, help people operate a computer so they can communicate and regain a little independence.

For me, working in the video Games entertainment industry, access to playing video games and communicating online with family & friends is often taken for granted. It is only through charities like SpecialEffect that technology solutions & one-to-one support is available to those that need it most.

Funding for projects and other personal technology solutions and one-to-one support relies solely on donations, large or small it all really makes a huge difference.
