Story

Brian & Debbies Story,

On the 8th of July 1992 our identical twin sons Aaron & Jordan Micheal were stillborn.

The reaon was due to a condition called twin to twin transfusion, one baby receives most of the nutrients & oxygen from the placenta.

Back then the technology and know how was limited (by comparison), if they were born today..... they would have had a much better chance of surviving.

The effect a stillbirth death due to premature birth has on a family is devastating, not a day goes by without us thinking 'what if' and we imagine how the boys would look, what they would be doing, how their lives would have unfolded, would they be working or @ University.....

Although we never got to bring our lovely boys home, they are and will continue to be a very special part of our lives, as they would now be approaching their 18th birthday i hope and pray that no other family has to go through what we have.

Stillbirths and premature deaths CAN be prevented....with the right care, skills and technological improvements lives can be saved and these 'special' babies can be given a fighting chance.

All this costs money and although i appreciate we are all suffering in a recession even a small donation will help to improve the care available.

Please give as much as you can so other families will be allowed to bring their beautiful babies home to live long and healthy lives...

Please support the lads from SPAW  on their weight loss campaign, check on their progress on their website and watch their tummies shrink!

Thanks for listening

Debbie & Brian Johnston....

========================================================================================

Hi, myself and 3 other mates from work have decided its about time we lost some weight...

"WHY?" i hear you all shout, "you're all fine figures of men" i know 'tis true we are but we've

now reached an average weight of 20 stone each! and feel that its time we trimmed back..just a little.

So we thought that we would lose some weight and raise money for a good cause.

We are all aiming to lose a minimum of 2 stone each by November the 27th.

The cause we have chosen is the Neo Natal Department @ The Royal Oldham Hospital.

What is a Neo Natal Dept?

Everyone hopes that their pregnancy will go smoothly and do not consider that their baby could be born in advance of the due date.

Babies are admitted to a neonatal unit for various reasons - the reality is that one in 10 babies in the spends at least a few days in a neonatal unit.  The length of stay is determined by the level of care baby requires.  The three levels of care are:

Intensive Care - involves the whole range of medical care for critically ill babies who need continuous observation and support of organ function.

High Dependency Care – babies who are not critically ill but require continuous support for neonatal conditions such as breathing and intravenous nutrition. Care of babies requiring higher levels of clinical care including those recovering from Intensive Care.

Special Care – continuous care for babies requiring specialist support including tube feeding, oxygen and light therapy (phototherapy). Care of less immature babies who do not need (or no longer need) High Dependency or Intensive Care and or care of babies recovering from illness or operations.

Brian Johnston has experience of the Neo Natal Dept. @ Oldham and i will tell his story early next week.

So, please sponsor any individual or as a group either way your generous donation (whatever it may be) will be passed directly to this very worthy cause.....

I will be updating this page weekly with our losses
