Story
On the 14 September, we will start a rather challenging race in the beautiful, and very hilly, Perth. We will set off at 7am to cover 50km (so 31 miles, an ultra marathon) and complete 60 obstacles (with a 30 burpees penalty for each failed obstacle).
It all sounded like an interesting, and probably a little tough run around an obstacle course.
Only after researching previous races (fastest finisher last year was 7 hours and around 70% DNF - Did Not Finish), did the scale of the challenge register. Our target finish time is 12 hours, and there are a number of time cuts to reach on the way.

But why? One of our good friends, Richard Bingham (Bingas), who we studied with at Newcastle University, is quite poorly with Bowel Cancer. Take a look at his blog to see how this is impacting him, Bekky and those close to them - https://www.thenextcorner.co.uk/
When we asked him which organisation we should support, Bowel Cancer UK was a no brainer, due to his involvement with them - he has even fronted a national campaign.
Aside from providing fantastic support, Bowel Cancer UK campaign and fund life changing research. This is an organisation doing so much, and with your help, they could do even more. I appreciate many of Richard and Bekky's friends will already have made donations to Bowel Cancer UK, but please do consider supporting again, or for the first time.
Some facts:
Bowel cancer is the second biggest cancer killer in the UK claiming more than 16,000 lives a year, that's over 44 people every day.
Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the UK, after breast, prostate and lung cancers.
Every 15 minutes in the UK someone is diagnosed with bowel cancer. That’s almost 42,000 people every year. Every 30 minutes someone dies from the disease in the UK.
