Story
The family and loved ones of Sir David Amess, MP for Southend West, have been overwhelmed by the public support and the number of kind messages, flowers and tributes left in his memory, in the wake of his untimely death.
As his funeral approaches, those closest to him kindly request that in lieu of flowers and other tributes, monetary donations are made to several key charities which Sir David passionately and wholeheartedly supported.
One of those is The Dogs Trust.
Sir David was well-known for being an avid animal-lover and particularly had an affection for dogs, often dedicating his Twitter page to “dog of the day”. In fact, his beloved French Bulldog, Vivienne, was recently crowned Westminster Dog of the Year 2021, in a fitting tribute to Sir David Amess.
Sir David worked hard to improve and protect dog welfare, throughout his career. He raised awareness about the impact of fireworks on animals, lobbied for a ban on electric shock collars and fought for the prevention of puppy smuggling. He was a staunch supporter of The Dogs Trust, which has a mission to bring about a day when all dogs have the right to a happy life, free from the threat of destruction.
On behalf of Sir David, his family and loved ones, thank you for your kind donation and helping his charitable work live on.
