Story
Sir David Endometriosis
The family and loved ones of Sir David Amess, MP for Southend West, have been overwhelmed by the public support and the number of kind messages, flowers and tributes left in his memory, in the wake of his untimely death.
As his funeral approaches, those closest to him kindly request that in lieu of flowers and other tributes, monetary donations are made to several key charities which Sir David passionately and wholeheartedly supported.
One of those is Endometriosis UK.
Sir David Amess MP was the chairman of the all-party parliamentary group for Endometriosis and incredibly keen to raise the profile and awareness of the medical condition affecting 1 in 10 women in the UK.
He had first become interested in endometriosis after a constituent approached him in 2016 describing her experiences struggling to get a diagnosis and appropriate treatment to deal with the condition.
Endometriosis is a condition where cells like the ones in the lining of the womb (uterus) are found elsewhere in the body. Each month these cells react in the same way to those in the womb, building up and then breaking down and bleeding. Unlike the cells in the womb that leave the body as a period, this blood has no way to escape. This can lead to:
· Chronic pain
· Fatigue/lack of energy
· Depression/isolation
· Problems with a couple’s sex life/relationships
· An inability to conceive
· Difficulty in fulfilling work and social commitments
On behalf of Sir David, his family and loved ones, thank you for your kind donation and helping his charitable work live on.
