Story
Whilst out on a social run, I said to two of my running buddies, Barry Chalmers and Daniel Christie, "I need a challenge this year and I have always wanted to run the length of the River Dee from Source to Sea." The boys responded with "let's do it." So from there, the challenge was set and we have asked our fellow running buddy, Peter Torrance to join us. Peter will provide invaluable knowledge of the early part of our journey having grown up in Braemar.
The four of us will be aiming to run the 88 miles (possibly more - route depending) of flowing water on Saturday July 24th in 24hrs. Our journey will start high in the Cairngorm Mountains from it's source in the shadow of Ben Macdui and Braeriach, then cascade down Royal Deeside through Braemar, Ballater, Aboyne and Banchory to eventually finish at Aberdeen Harbour.
We have a Facebook page - 'Source to Sea' (see link below) which will allow you to keep up to date with our training journey and any stories relevant to our challenge. We would be extremely grateful for your support in helping us succeed in our running quest to help improve the lives of others and the local community.
