Story
Hello :)
Let me begin by thanking you for stopping by and reading this story, I appreciate your time!
I'm Mikey, I am a captain of the URBOND NVL MEN's team currently playing in the 2nd Division in England. I really enjoy this amazing sport and I decided to help other enthusiasts to enjoy it too!
Last year I was fortunate to travel to Guinea, the city of Dubreka, with the mission of delivering an IT facility for children in need. The project was a great success and this initiative is a result of this experience.
Dubreka's local community gave us an amazing welcome and I was invited to practice with the Soumba volleyball Club De Dubréka. As I’m the captain of the volleyball team in Portsmouth, I was highly respected by the Guinean players, but soon absolutely annihilated on the court! Many of them play for their national team, and it was definitely a humbling experience.
I fell in love with people, their passion, and the phenomenal atmosphere at the club... and here I want to ask for your help. Guinea is still a very poor country and clubs like Soumba is lacking funding for things that we, in the UK, take for granted.
All the monies collected will be passed on to the head coach and will be used for the following:
-Electricity so the sessions can continue after dark.
-Funds for the builder to fix the court.
-Volleyball balls, used during the training sessions.
-Playing kits, used for the games with other teams.
From myself, I promise to personally top up all of the donations by an additional 50%.
Please note: All of your donations will go directly to the URBOND charity bank account.
