I've been inspired to run by the many people that too many of us have known, loved and seen battle so bravely with cancer. 

I've also been inspired by my involvement with a new initiative that is going to help beat cancer, sooner. Called Women of Influence, it supports the best young female scientists in the UK through access to career mentors and a campaign to raise £1 million to fund their research. 

Not to tug at the old heartstrings or anything but... I've been training through wind and rain since October, and have had an infuriating injury, so it's going to be an extra monumental effort for me to be ready - and get round - but I am absolutely determined to do it.
