Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As many of you will know, 'The Ice Bucket Challenge' has raised much needed funds for the MND association over the last couple of years.

What we didn't know whilst this fundraising was going on, was that my Dad would soon be diagnosed with ALS (otherwise known as Motor Neuron Disease). Since Dad's diagnosis the MND association have been amazing. The team of both permanent and volunteer staff work tirelessly to support people affected by MND and have been there to answer the many difficult questions that suddenly arise following diagnosis. They are also busy conducting research studies in order to try to find a cure for MND and supporting people with MND and their families, none of which is government funded.

As some of you may know I have decided to embark on an epic 2 month ocean voyage to the Caribbean! I will be part of a crew sailing a tall ship named ‘Tenacious’.

So to raise money for the MND association research fund and our regional MND support branch… I’ve decided to do a sponsored climb to the top of the mast on a 65 metre long 'Tenacious'! This challenge will test my nerve and strength as I clamber up the rope and wooden ladders to reach the 123ft high button - the top of the mast.

This challenge is a tiny in comparison with those that people with MND face every single day. They can’t take the harness off and say “I can’t do this today”. So please, sponsor me to climb that mast however small the donation. It all helps to fund the amazing support the MND Association provide for people with MND and their families.

Thank you x
