Story
I am part of a group of rebel riders cycling from Brighton to the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow. We'll be riding 522 miles over nine days from 24 October to 1 November, averaging 60 miles per day.
We are seeing right now the impact that climate change and nature loss are having on our world. Extreme weather events, floods, droughts and wildfires are affecting people's lives and livelihoods across the globe.
This year's UN climate summit in Glasgow is crucial. We can't wait another five years. We need all countries to set out strong commitments to rapidly reduce carbon emissions. That's why we want to create a presence in Glasgow, to prove the weight of public support for bold measures to tackle the climate crisis.
But this ride is not just about the destination. Along the journey, we will be highlighting some of the ecological challenges we face to maintain a liveable planet, and the communities across the UK who are stepping up to face them.
We already have the solutions we need. Now we have to be inspired by these community groups to urgently put them into practice on a much bigger scale.
